Corinne Wilkerson Promoted to Conservation Manager
We are excited to announce that Corinne Wilkerson has been promoted to Conservation Manager! Since joining our team in 2021, Corinne has overseen the stewardship of our protected areas, developed numerous successful wildlife monitoring programs, led a variety of youth education activities, and managed our contract field staff.

Now Hiring Bat Monitoring Technician
We're hiring! Our Bat Monitoring and Education Program has been very successful since it began in 2022, collecting over 400,000 individual recordings. We're looking for a Bat Monitoring Technician to join us this summer to assist with the program.

Executive Director Honoured by SodaStream Canada
Central Algoma Land Trust’s Executive Director, Carter Dorscht, was recently selected by SodaStream Canada for their Canadian Sustainable Hometown Heroes campaign, which celebrates Canadians making a real difference in environmental stewardship and community well‑being. The campaign highlights how local efforts and individual actions can create meaningful change.

Fall Migratory Bird Day at Fort St. Joseph
For the second year in a row, the Central Algoma Land Trust is proud to partner with Parks Canada to host the Fall Migratory Bird Day at Fort St. Joseph National Historic Site. Parks Canada will be providing special access to the site so that birders can experience the wonders of fall bird migration.
TKC becomes the Central Algoma Land Trust
The Kensington Conservancy is excited to announce that it has officially rebranded as the Central Algoma Land Trust. This new name more accurately reflects the organization’s core mission of land conservation, increases its visibility at both the provincial and national levels, and signifies an expanded commitment to protecting natural spaces across the broader Central Algoma region.
2025 Pam Bent Conservation Award
Back in March, The Kensington Conservancy presented this year's Pam Bent Conservation Award to Luis Antonio Freitas. This annual award goes to a Sault College student in a School of Natural Environment program who demonstrates good leadership skills, good academic achievement, is a global thinker and demonstrates a passion above and beyond the program expectations. It is in memory of Pam Bent, a seasonal resident in the Desbarats area who had a passion for education and nature. Congratulations Luis, we wish you the best of luck in your future!
