Protected Areas Added to National Database

We are thrilled to announce that six of our protected areas are now officially included in the Canadian Protected and Conserved Areas Database. This national database tracks the progress toward Canada's ambitious goal of protecting 30% of our land and water by 2030.

The newly added areas include:

  • Archibald Homestead

  • Bowen Island Preserve

  • Dawson Island Preserve

  • Gravel Point Preserve

  • Phelps Preserve

  • Turtle Rock Preserve

These six preserves add a combined 195 hectares (482 acres) of locally protected land to the national total. We are actively working to have our remaining protected areas added in the near future.

The Central Algoma Land Trust depends on the generous support of our local community to carry out our work. Please consider making a donation to help advance conservation efforts across the Central Algoma region. Your contribution will help protect the natural spaces and wildlife that make this area so special.
