Board of Directors

The Central Algoma Land Trust’s Board of Directors boasts a broad cross section of the local community. It has citizens from Canada and from the United States, permanent and summer residents, those with long family histories and those with new experiences in this vibrant community. Everyone comes to the table with a genuine love of land and water and a wish for future generations to enjoy the same treasurers.

Richard Warren - President

Dick has been involved with Central Algoma Land Trust for more than 20 years.  He has been a summer resident for 70+ years, sharing a small island near Desbarats with his family. He is retired from a 35 year career in the California Conservation Corps, and later the Sierra Nevada Conservancy. His career has offered many private and professional opportunities to provide support for the environment, local communities, CALT, and young adults. He has been a board member of other non-profits that support the environment, Secretary of CALT, and President of CALT’s Board for three years. Dick likes to sail. He lives in Auburn, California, and has two children and three grandchildren who love Central Algoma!

Betsy Kingery - Vice President

Betsy Kingery has been spending her summers on St. Joseph Island since 1954 following in the footsteps of her grandparents and parents since 1923. While professionally a nurse, she has been an active promoter of native gardening and environmental stewardship for many years.  Her interest in Central Algoma Land Trust began with hiking the trails on the Boyer Preserve and touring the Black Hole Preserve with CALT staff. This interest developed further when she and her husband Bill created the Gravel Point Preserve, the first CALT nature preserve on St. Joseph Island. She is honoured to give back to a place that has given so much to her and her family by serving on the Board of Trustees.
