Volunteer Opportuntiies

Bluebird Box Monitoring

We have partnered with Algoma University and installed 50 bluebird boxes in the Desbarats area. We are looking for volunteers to help us monitor them throughout the breeding season.

Property Monitoring

We're looking for dedicated volunteers to help us monitor our conservation preserves. The Kensington Conservancy protects ten properties which need to be monitored at minimum once a year, for disturbances and ecological changes.

Adopt-A-Highway Garbage Cleanup

The Kensington Conservancy adopted a 3 km stretch of Highway 17 between Smith Road and Kensington Road, just west of Desbarats. We are looking for volunteers to help us clean up the roadside litter. We will announce in advance if we are planning a clean-up event, so keep an eye on our social media channels or join our email list.

Trail Maintenance

Are you an avid hiker who wants to help keep our trails in good condition? We're looking for dedicated volunteers to help maintain the Foster Parkland and Walking Trails and Gravel Point Preserve Hiking Trails by clearing downed trees or taking care of other issues along the trails.

Community Outreach

The Central Algoma Land Trust loves to get out into the community! We often set up a table or an activity at various community events throughout the year. We are looking for people to help us out at community events, such as community days, parades, or other community outreach activities.

Photography

We're looking for photographers, either amateur or professional, to explore our nature preserves and take photos of scenery, plants, and wildlife!  These photos would then be used for by us for our website, social media, newsletters, and other promotional items.
