Community Nature Partners

Not every landowner is ready to formally protect their land, but every hectare in Central Algoma has a role to play in the health of our region. Through our Community Nature Partners program, you can enhance wildlife habitat, protect water quality, and support your local ecosystem right in your own backyard. Join a community of dedicated stewards and gain the expert insights you need to manage your property for the future.

About the Partnership

Becoming a Community Nature Partner is a simple, three-step process designed to give you a clearer picture of your land’s ecological value.

  1. Site Visit - A member of our team will visit your property for a half-day "walk and talk." Together, we will explore the various habitats on your land, identifying unique features, potential wildlife corridors, and any areas that might need a little extra care (such as invasive species or erosion).

  2. Property Action Plan - Following our visit, you will receive a concise Property Action Plan. This customized report summarizes our findings and provides at least three actionable recommendations tailored to your property, such as enhancing pollinator habitat, protecting water quality, or managing forest health.

  3. Certification - Once you sign our Stewardship Pledge, a non-binding commitment to care for your land’s unique features, you will officially become a certified Community Nature Partner. You’ll receive an exclusive weatherproof gate sign to proudly display on your property, identifying you as a leader in local conservation and a partner of ours.

Partnership Fees

To ensure these partnerships are sustainable and allow our team to dedicate the necessary time to each property, we operate on a fee-for-service model:

  • Initial Assessment & Certification: $500 (discounts may be available for small properties)

    • Includes the site visit, customized Property Action Plan, and your metal gate sign.

  • Annual Partnership Renewal: $100

    • Includes continued use of the certification, an annual stewardship check-in, and priority access to our stewardship information.

Note on Advanced Services: While our standard partnerships focus on baseline assessments, we may be able to provide more in-depth services, such as detailed species inventories or management plan writing, on a case-by-case basis depending on our team’s capacity.
