Bat Monitoring Technician

The Central Algoma Land Trust is a charitable organization that protects nearly 500 hectares of ecologically sensitive land in the Central Algoma region. We are looking for a technician to assist with our Bat Monitoring and Education Program.


Location: Desbarats, Ontario
Anticipated Start Date: May 4, 2026 
Tentative Contract Length: 16 weeks
Positions Available: 1
Compensation: $20.00/hour (35 hours/week)

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • install and maintain bat recorders

  • analyze the collected data and develop reports

  • engage and educate the local community about bats

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • completed, or currently completing, a diploma or degree in a field related to biology or natural resources

  • identification of local flora and fauna species

  • experience with advanced computer programs 

  • knowledge of local ecosystems and how they function

  • experience working outdoors in all weather conditions

  • exceptional outdoor navigation skills

  • the ability to work both independently and as a team
