Bat Monitoring Technician
The Central Algoma Land Trust is a charitable organization that protects nearly 500 hectares of ecologically sensitive land in the Central Algoma region. We are looking for a technician to assist with our Bat Monitoring and Education Program.
Location: Desbarats, Ontario
Anticipated Start Date: May 4, 2026
Tentative Contract Length: 16 weeks
Positions Available: 1
Compensation: $20.00/hour (35 hours/week)
Duties and Responsibilities
install and maintain bat recorders
analyze the collected data and develop reports
engage and educate the local community about bats
Qualifications and Skills Required
completed, or currently completing, a diploma or degree in a field related to biology or natural resources
identification of local flora and fauna species
experience with advanced computer programs
knowledge of local ecosystems and how they function
experience working outdoors in all weather conditions
exceptional outdoor navigation skills
the ability to work both independently and as a team
