Each staff member brings unique skills and expertise to support our mission of protecting and stewarding the natural landscapes of Central Algoma for future generations.
Carter Dorscht - Executive Director
Carter began with the organization in 2016 after graduating from Sault College’s Fish and Wildlife Conservation Technician program and was initially responsible for land stewardship and programming. In 2021, he became the Executive Director. His leadership was recognized in 2023 when he received the Ontario Land Trust Alliance’s Emerging Land Trust Leader Award. Carter is a dedicated naturalist and loves spending his time looking for interesting plants and wildlife, both in the local area and beyond.

Jennifer Mann - Office Administrator
Jennifer is a dedicated and resourceful professional who holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Guelph. Passionate about sustainability, self-sufficiency, continuous improvement and health, she made the intentional decision to live in an off-grid home near Desbarats Lake. Her way of life reflects her commitment to minimizing her environmental footprint and making meaningful connections with her community. Her education and hands-on experience in technology, operations and project management bring complementary skills to the organization.
Hailey Frasier - Bat Monitoring Technician
Hailey has just finished her bachelors degree in biology at Algoma University and will graduate in June. She has spent her last semester completing an internship with the Central Algoma Land Trust in which she analyzed bat recordings. She will be starting her masters at Memorial University in January where she will be studying frogs. Hailey is very excited to continue working with the Central Algoma Land Trust this summer gathering bat data!
Sarah Peplow - Assistant Field Technician
Sarah is an honours graduate of the Fish and Wildlife and Natural Environment Technician programs at Sault College, Sarah is passionate about conservation and enjoys working outdoors to help protect and preserve wild habitats. This fall, she plans to continue her academic journey at Algoma University, pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Biology. In her free time, Sarah enjoys hiking, kayaking, camping, and geocaching. We’re thrilled to have her back on the team for another season of field work!
Schae McCaig- Assistant Field Technician
Schae has just graduated from the Natural Environment Technician program at Sault College and aims to base her career working outdoors. She's an avid learner who likes to spend her time learning all about various environmental topics, but is most keen about fauna and flora ID. Schae's other interests lie in arts, hiking, photography, camping, and getting out on the canoe; among other outdoor activities. She plans to further her education in this field by taking a Fish and Wildlife program. Schae is excited to earn some experience out in the field and is always happy to help ID species you come across.
